LEADING OFF!
Reds Deal Cardinals 4-2 Defeat. Cincinnati rode a fine outing from starter Michael Lorenzen to victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The final score was 4-2. In 7 innings, Lorenzen surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking no one. He allowed 1 run. The win elevated the Reds to 64-53.

Cincinnati relied on the hitting of trade deadline acquisition Tim Anderson to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Reds on top, 2-1. For the game, Anderson had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

After the game, Cincinnati manager @Malcolm Reynolds- Reds applauded the team’s effort. “We are a 1/2 game back from Atlanta, 5 from NYM and 6 from Milwaukee.  We play 4 more against  Milwaukee next week. I hope it gets really close” he said.

Around the AL
He was flashing his power as Margot Hits 2 home runs in Rays Win! The red hot Tampa Bay Rays downed the Boston Red Sox, 8-4. The hitting star was center fielder Manuel Margot. Margot hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Rays. The win puts Tampa Bay at 71-46 this season.

Margot contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Tampa Bay in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Margot took a sinker from Chris Sale and stroked the home run to left. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Rays to leap in front, 4-2.

“I am serious about this game. And don’t call me Margot. It’s Manuel or Manny, or ‘Yoandry’, but not Margot. Margot is some actress from some 90s Superman movie,” said Margot after the performance.

What the CEL!
The Las Vegas Rat Pack downed the New Jersey Pioneers, 6-4, at Frank Sinatra Stadium. We just love the name of that stadium in Las Vegas. And it’s time to start spreading the news. They are leaving this year. They have got to be a part of it, The OMLB. These vagabond teams, the Pioneers and Rat Pack. Are going to run right into it, The OMLB. You will wake up next season and find them in your division, the king of the hill or top of the heap. These two new expansion teams, in the OMLB.

“Don’t look now but expansion season is almost here. That’s all for this week folks! Join us again next week for This Week in Baseball, Phillies Edition!”
