He permitted 1 hit and finished with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk in the Padres victory. More impressive was his at bat in the 5th inning. With no one on and one out Marquez hit a solo Homerun to aid his own cause. This year Marquez has registered 12 wins and 5 losses in 27 starts with a 3.62 ERA while registering 133 strikeouts and 57 walks in 156.2 innings.”Wow what a game Marquez had. He pitched a complete game 1 hit shut out with 9 strike outs. The best part? The home run he hit in the 5th inning!!” @DP – Padres was sure to point out to us.

Around the AL
The Chicago White Sox are on a tear going 6-0 to finish August and then pushing that into a ten game win streak to start September. The preseason darlings have cemented their place at the top of the AL Central and are ensured to continue this roll on into the playoffs. They are definitely putting the rest of the teams in the league on notice.Starter Lucas Giolito had a strong outing against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team’s 6-0 win. Chicago leads the American League Central Division by 17½ games.Giolito ran roughshod over the Kansas City lineup. The right-hander allowed just 4 hits over 8.2 innings, while striking out 7. With the victory, he goes to 13-9 on the season.”I still think this team can play even better,” Giolito told us.

What the CEL!Rat Pack Lose to Pioneers, 3-0. Pitcher Ervin Santana was sensational for the New Jersey Pioneers in his team’s 3-0 triumph over the Las Vegas Rat Pack. Santana picked up the win, and it was well-earned. Williams Jerez earned his 16th save in 22 chances. The Pioneers raised their record to 50-76.Judy Garland was there to glam up the game and we caught up with her before she was whisked off to perform at a local gin joint, “The greatest treasures are those invisible to the eye but found by the heart, and that is where the sport of baseball lives for me.””We couldn’t have said it better ourselves Judy.””That’s all for this week folks!
