Phillies Split with Atlanta to keep Pace!

Things are looking bananaliscious in the NL East for the Phillies as they split with Atlanta to keep pace with the Division leaders. Johnny Rose the GM in Philadelphia felt the series split was like the toppings on his ice cream, “Well, we’re here now, the players, the coaches, and so am I. And, with the whole careers ahead of them, we’ll be able to… take advantage of more days like this. Does this not remind you of that wellness retreat we went to in Evian, right after the pennant race in 09?  Yes, remember. We wandered down to the lake, ne’ery a person to be found. Bid adieu to our clothing and let the cool sting of the mineral water remind us that we were, in fact, alive and well. I lost my Patek Philippe in that lake, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way.In the final game of the four game set the Philadelphia Phillies took Atlanta pitcher Sean Newcomb‘s best shot and still were able to claim a win at Citizens Bank Park. The final score had Philadelphia getting past the Braves, 1-0. The clutch hit made it, 1-0, Phillies.Hoskins called the win the result of “everyone working in tandem.”The Phillies improved to 45-53.

It has been a long season so far for the Cleveland baseball team. Their owner has been saving money on payroll. In 2020 the team made the playoffs but due to payroll cuts the team is playing like a shadow of its former self. The new team name was rolled out and then it was discovered that the Guardians was copyright to the local Cleveland roller derby team. Someone didn’t do their market research on that one. So on any given day a win in a baseball game makes everyone forget their woes for at least an hour or two. The Cleveland Guardians bested the Oakland Athletics, 10-1, at Oakland Coliseum this week. Daniel Johnson was one of the standouts. He went 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Zach Plesac picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 9-4. The third-place Guardians are 45-47.With Cleveland leading 4-1 in the top of the fourth, Johnson hit a curveball from Chris Bassitt for a 2-run home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Guardians ahead, 6-1.Johnson told us here at TWIB PEE that he was “satisfied” with the win and, “that hound they had on the mound was sniffing around in the dust all day.””That’s all for this week folks!
