Under the Radar 2025 Draft Prospect - Part 2: Josh Olson - Pitcher
By John Manuel

"Olson cracked Baseball America's midseason top 25 high school arms list, so it may seem like a stretch to tag him as "under the radar." but he hasn't achieved anywhere near the notoriety of the top of the draft arms. At 6'5" and 230 pounds, the lefty has an imposing presence, and he can dial his fastball up to 97 mph. In fact, he hit 98.5 mph at the Under Armer High School Prospect Showcase, where he worked a perfect inning. With a career 11.4 K/9 ratio over 23 starts, strikeouts don't appear to be a problem, but he has walked just over four batters per 9 innings.

In an interview conducted just hours before the Prospect Game, Olson said he wasn't worried about his walk rate, because he claims he is an elite type pitcher who "can't be touched". Time will tell if Olson can find better control and efficiency, but if he does, he could rise quickly on many GM's draft boards, and could make quick work through the minor league levels."
