Pre Approved Cubans allowed to play in MLB!

AP- December 2, 2016

There seemed to be a lack of Cuban Baseball defectors this year, and now we know why. After the embarrassing defection last year of now Cubs star Alredo Despaigne the Cuban government made a quiet shift in policy. They privately told players they would be allowed to go play in the US without having to defect on an applied for case by case basis. This is not a long term policy, that is still being worked on, but it has seemed to appease players for now. 8 players were selected in this first season to be allowed to shop their services to the MLB. The list is headed by Cuban superstar and World Baseball Classic standout Yulieski Gourriel, whom even at 32 should be sought after. Also high on a lot of team's wish lists will be SP Vladimir Garcia.

Here is the full list of Cuban Free Agents:

3B Yulieski Gourriel
SP Vladimir Garcia
CL Jose Angel Garcia
C Yosvani Alarcon
3B Jorge Barcelan
RF Alexei Bell
SP Ismel Jimenez
SP Miguel Lahara
